March 10th saw the debut of St Joseph’s Little Singers 2007. The 31 singers from Years 2 and 3 included some “Old Hands” who had performed at the Symphony Hall Birmingham in July 2005, but this was, formany, a new experience. The Little Singers began rehearsing a dramatised musical version of The Magic Porridge Pot at the beginning of the Spring term and 8 weeks later theywere on theirway to Brentwood hoping to impress in the Music for Youth audition rounds. Teachers and parents though theywere brilliant but what about the adjudicators? This small selection of theirwritten comments speak for themselves. Excellent costumes and a wonderful entrance. The singing was bright and well pitched. The acting was convincing. You communicated the story to your audience, holding their attention from start to finish. Bravo! We are still waiting to hear if the Little Singers have been selected to perform at the National Festival in Birmingham but hopes are high. |
